Apple is really getting into making phones, like the iPhone Fold and the iPhone Flip.

In his Power On newsletter Gurman says that Apple is trying out a small iPhone Flip that is square and folds in half like a clamshell. This iPhone Flip is similar, to the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra or the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 that is coming out. The iPhone Flip is a phone that you can easily carry in your pocket. It will come out after the iPhone Fold, which Apple will launch in late 2026.
The Fold does not have a light yet. The development of the Fold is still in its stages and it is not a sure thing.. If the Fold becomes popular it could make people want to buy flip style phones. This is similar to how iPhone fans want to buy all types of iPhones from the small ones to the big ones like the minis and the maxes. The Fold could really take off. People might start looking for flip style options, like this.

The new one will be a follow-up, to this A20 Pro chip device.
Why Flip Now?
Foldables are really taking off. Apple has been very careful about this. Apple wants to make sure that the screens on these Foldables do not get any creases and that they are very durable. If the Fold is a success it could make Apple think that Foldables are an idea and that they should make different kinds of Foldables just like they did with the regular iPhones. It is fun to think about what Apple could make, like a Flip that you can easily flip open with one hand and a big screen on the inside that would be great, for watching movies or videos.
Other companies like Samsung and Motorola are making flips. Apples flips are really nice and that could change things. Gurman says people are really excited about the Fold and that might make people want to buy flips from Apple and other companies, like Samsung and Motorola.
No timelines for Flip beyond “after Fold,” and it’s speculative. Still, Apple’s foldable push feels inevitable.
