Apple is making some changes with the iPhone 18 series. People are talking about when these new phones will be available. The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be in stores in September.. You will have to wait until 2027 to buy the regular iPhone 18.
There are some cool new features that people are excited, about. The iPhone 18 series is going to have two camera upgrades. These upgrades might finally make the iPhone 18 series as good as the Android flagships when it comes to cameras. The iPhone 18 series is really going to change things.
Variable Aperture: A First for iPhone Cameras
Digital Chat Station shared some news on Weibo. They said that Apple is trying out a camera feature for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. This feature is called an aperture main sensor. It helps the camera control how light it lets in. This means it can take pictures with the right amount of light and focus. It is similar, to what a professional camera can do. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have a camera that can adjust to take pictures like a big camera.
If this works out it will be Apples attempt at variable aperture on an Apple phone. This is a deal for Apple phone users who want to take good pictures in low light and get a nice blurry background. Samsung was the company to try this with the Galaxy S9 in 2018.. Samsung stopped doing it because it was too expensive and took up too much space. If Apple can make it work that will be really impressive, for Apple.
Upgraded Telephoto for Better Zoom Magic
The Pro duo is not stopping there. The Pro duo might get a telephoto camera with a bigger hole that lets in more light. This means the Pro duo will have background blur the Pro duo will be better, at taking pictures in low light and the Pro duo will have less noise when you zoom in on something.
The new iPhone 17 Pro has a camera with a 48MP telephoto lens that has an aperture of f/2.8. This is an improvement from the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro have the aperture. This change is what people were expecting when they heard about the improvements, in the iPhone 17 Pro camera. The iPhone 17 Pro camera is really good.
Echoing Ming-Chi Kuo’s Predictions
These leaks are similar to what Ming-Chi Kuo said in his note from December 2024. He talked about the iPhone 18 Pro cameras. These iPhone 18 Pro cameras might take good pictures because they have something called variable aperture. This means the iPhone 18 Pro cameras can change how much light gets in. Ming-Chi Kuo also said that a company called BE Semiconductor or BESI for short will make the parts, for the blades in the iPhone 18 Pro cameras. The aperture blades are a little tricky to make.
Apple’s camera game has evolved fast—fusing lenses in iPhone 16 Pro, now this. If rumors hold, iPhone 18 Pro could redefine mobile photography. September can’t come soon enough!
