The iPhone series from Apple is always doing things and after the iPhone 17 lineup was really popular last September especially the basic model which had a lot of features people are now looking forward to the iPhone 18 in 2026. There are reports that the iPhone 18 will have really good display upgrades with LTPO+ technology and special sensors under the screen that might get rid of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18. The iPhone 18 is going to be a deal because of these new features, especially the display upgrades, on the iPhone 18.
iPhone 18 Series Display Upgrades
A new report from South Koreas ETNews says that Apple is working with Samsung Display and LG Display to make screens for the iPhone 18 series. This includes the iPhone Fold that everyone is talking about. BOE made some screens for the iPhone 17. They might not be making any for the iPhone 18. This is because they had some problems, with the quality of their screens. It is not easy to make these screens, which are called LTPO+ or Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide panels. Apple wants to make sure the iPhone 18 screens are good so they are working with Samsung Display and LG Display instead. The iPhone 18 series is going to have these LTPO+ screens, including the iPhone Fold.
These are not your screens. The LTPO+ technology uses oxide TFTs for the transistors. This means you get more consistent brightness. You also get response times.. The best part is that it saves a lot of power.
Imagine that you are scrolling through something, on the LTPO+ screen. It is really smooth. The LTPO+ screen also gives you battery life. You do not have to worry about the visuals being bad because the LTPO+ screen has visuals. The LTPO+ screens are really good.
Under-Display IR Sensor and Face ID Revolution
The big surprise is that there is a sensor under the screen. This is where the Face ID is on an iPhone. If the rumors are true the Face ID could be completely hidden under the screen. This would give us space on the iPhone. We would not have the Dynamic Island pill anymore just a small hole for the camera and the front of the iPhone would look really nice and smooth. The iPhone would have the sensor under the display which is a big deal for the Face ID, on the iPhone.
We have been wanting this look since the time of notches on phones. Apple can finally give us the iPhone 18 with an edge-to-edge screen making the iPhone 18 feel like it is from the future, without the usual problems. The iPhone 18 will be great.
iPhone Fold Enters the Mix
Do not sleep on Apples foldable the iPhone Fold, which is supposed to come out in 2026 too. Apple is going to use Samsung Display as the supplier for the iPhone Fold. They have figured out how to make a hinge that does not get wrinkles when it folds from left to right on an axis. This is a change for Apple because they are combining the good things about the iPhone with the cool things about foldable phones, like the iPhone Fold. The iPhone Fold is going to be an interesting phone.
These leaks paint an exciting picture: brighter, smarter displays across the board. Of course, take it with a grain of salt—Apple loves surprises. But if LTPO+ and hidden Face ID land, the iPhone 18 could redefine premium again.
